Interactive display windows at the Toy Worlds Museum Basle
Between 22nd October 2016 and 2nd April 2017 the Toy Worlds Museum Basle will show the special exhibition „The girl and the sea, Thousands of years old, mysterious depictions of sea creatures – Florence Gottet collection“.
A special interactive media installation in the museum’s shopping windows was announcing this special event in a playful way.
Passersby on the Barfüsserplatz were caught by surprise and literally entered into the scene displayed behind the store window. Camera- and laser-based sensors detected every movement of the people acting in front of the window. The software solution ›living surface‹ provided by vertigo systems transforms the user’s activity instantly into information and playful animations related to the subjects of the exhibition.
Large, seamless LED-daylight-screens displayed the content bright, crisp and colorful – drawing people’s attention from the entire city square.
The interactive content contained a preview on the precious artifacts that are presented in the exhibition and offered a descent down into fantastic interactive underwater worlds. Concept, design and management of this project have come from the swiss company Gimmick Studios AG.
