Students in the field of industrial design from the University of Wuppertal developed a new table soccer experience. Working in close cooperation with the traditional manufacturer Leonhart and ›vertigo systems‹, Nadine von Seelen and Tobias Nentwig enhanced the classical, haptic experience of a table soccer with the digital mood media ›living surface‹. Every activity during the match results in a fascinating visual feedback on the screen-based playing field.
Interesting to note, the students followed a crowd sourcing approach to create this unique design object. A web community of table soccer fans was intensively involved in the different stages of the design process. This way, the resulting prototype is both: full of new ideas and market proof.
